Privacy policy
HostPenny is a static site that collects as little as possible. Here's exactly what that means, Google Analytics included. Last updated October 9, 2026.
HostPenny is a static website that collects as little information as possible. We do not require accounts, we do not sell data, and our only measurement tool is Google Analytics 4, with its advertising features switched off. This page explains the limited data involved in visiting the site, in plain language.
What we collect
We count visits with Google Analytics 4 — what it records, and how to switch it off, is in the next section. If you enter your email into a signup form, we use it only to send the updates you asked for, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Our server, like most, may keep standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and to keep the site running.
Analytics and cookies
Google Analytics 4 is run by Google LLC and Google Ireland Ltd. On HostPenny it tells us which pages are viewed, which site sent you here, roughly where you are (city or country, nothing finer), what kind of device and browser you use, and how long a visit lasts. GA4 doesn't log or store IP addresses. Advertising features, Google signals and ad personalisation are all turned off: the numbers aren't used for ads, and they're never sold.
Analytics uses two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_<ID>, each lasting up to 2 years — and they're only set after analytics is allowed. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland see a banner first; until you click Accept, nothing goes to Google. Outside Europe, analytics starts switched on and you can turn it off whenever you want. A browser that sends the Global Privacy Control signal is treated as having opted out. We remember your answer in your browser's local storage (key: analytics-consent) rather than in a cookie.
Changed your mind? Open Cookie settings to bring the banner back. Google's own practices are covered by its privacy policy, and Google's opt-out browser add-on blocks Google Analytics across the web.
Affiliate links and cookies
Some outbound links are affiliate links. When you click one, the hosting company or its affiliate network may set a cookie on their side to credit us if you sign up. That process is controlled by the host, not by us, and is governed by their privacy policy. We don't receive your personal or payment details from it — only, at most, notice that a referral converted. More on how this works is in our affiliate disclosure.
Your choices
You can browse HostPenny without an account or an email address, switch analytics off from the cookie settings link, block cookies in your browser, and unsubscribe from email at any time. If you'd like us to delete an email address we hold for you, contact [email protected] and we'll remove it. Because we intentionally hold so little, there is usually very little to delete. This policy may be updated as the site grows; material changes will be noted here. This version was last updated on October 9, 2026.
